Leaping from pine to pine
You can choose to feel like Tarzan or Cheetah, or like neither of them, but be sure that for a few hours the trees will become your vital space. The airborne circuits are a kind of leisure park in which our feet will not touch the ground. Quite the contrary, they will walk several metres above the ground, leaping from tree to tree. This new kind of park can be found in different places in Spain and the common denominator of all of them is that they all happen around the tops of woodland trees.
Trailing branches, hanging bridges, walkways and lots of ropes from one tree to another set out the map of these leisure areas we can find in Sopuerta (Vizcaya region), Barcelona, Girona or Burgos. In Castellón, Saltapins is one of them. At the top of the first tree a route starts where skill, balance and confidence count for everything. To start with, using a reproduction of the circuit just 30 cm above the ground, the instructors show us how to use the carabiners and harnesses that will keep us safe in our day as Tarzan or Cheetah.
Once the lesson has been learned and with our helmets on, it is time to start. The first thing is to choose a route that is suited to our age and physical capacity. As in Saltapins, almost all of the pines have different forms of routes, ranging from one hour to two and a half hours from treetop to treetop. You can choose either form, because the best thing is being a monkey for a day.
